Master Troubleshooting & Diagnostics Matrix
| Error Code / Indicator | Symptom / Meaning | Possible Cause | Step-by-Step DIY Fix | Suggested Actions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
N/A | TV/radio picture or reception problem (Status 570/VP3 antenna) | A coaxial connection in the system is not fitted correctly. | Make sure every coaxial connection in the system is properly seated. | DIY Safe |
N/A | TV picture is affected by a strong signal near a transmitter (Status 570/VP3 antenna) | Gain Control has been turned fully clockwise (maximum) somewhere the signal is already strong. | Rotate the Gain Control button anti-clockwise (through up to 270 degrees) until picture quality improves. | DIY Safe |
N/A | The LED on the Amplifier does not light (Status 570/VP3 antenna) | No power to the unit, or incorrect polarity. | Start by confirming the unit is getting power, then verify the polarity. If it's still not lit after that, Grade UK Ltd can help further. | DIY Check / Tech Fallback |
N/A | Unclear whether a poor TV signal is caused by the Amplifier/wiring or the antenna itself (Status 570/VP3 antenna) | — | Two isolation tests can narrow this down. Test 1: disconnect the coaxial plugs from the Amplifier's 'TV' sockets, then wire the TV straight to the Amplifier using the TV fly lead and Converter 1 (Antenna Dome still plugged into 'ANT-IN'). A better picture here points to the wiring between the Amplifier and the TV outlet as the culprit.
Test 2: disconnect the Antenna from the Amplifier, fit Converter 2 onto the cable end, and link the antenna straight to the TV with the fly lead. A better picture this time means the Amplifier unit itself is at fault. | DIY Safe |

Check the model on your amplifier before ordering: Only needed if the tests above show the amplifier is at fault. Vision Plus sells more than one VP3 version - this is the 3-outlet version whose spec matches the handbook. N/A | Poor reception, or affects performance of other coaxial-connected equipment | Kinked, trapped, or looped surplus coaxial cable between the antenna dome and the amplifier. | Trace the coaxial cable's route between the antenna dome and the amplifier, looking for kinks, trapped stretches, or loops of spare cable. | DIY Safe |
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I set up and operate the TV antenna on my Bailey?
Start by working out roughly where the nearest transmitter is and whether it's broadcasting a horizontal or vertical signal - your site operator or a look at neighbouring pitches' aerials will usually tell you. Loosen off the mast's locking collar, wind the antenna up, and turn the mast until it's facing the transmitter (there's an H/V mark on the base of the mast that shows you which way is the back).
If you need vertical polarisation, twist the winder anticlockwise to tip the antenna over by 90 degrees, but don't force it. With the aerial in position, power up the amplifier - its LED should light - and wind the gain control fully clockwise to its maximum setting. From there, retune your TV to find the strongest signal, nudging the mast's direction if needed for a cleaner picture, then lock everything in place by doing the locking collar back up.
If you're getting a strong signal and the picture's breaking up, the gain can be wound back down (anticlockwise) - it turns through a full 270 degrees between its minimum and maximum settings.
