Clicking, creaking or squeaking noises while driving from the stabiliser and coupling
Debris or grime between the towball and friction pad, a dry (unlubricated) draw-shaft inside the overrun device, or excess play in a detachable towball's locking mechanism.
Rub the towball and friction pads clean using fine (100-120 grit) emery paper. Grease the draw-shaft sleeve through its nipples, sliding the gaiter forward first, using DIN 51 825 KTA 3K grease on the exposed shaft. A specialist workshop should then inspect the ball-holding area for damage and confirm the locking mechanism works properly, replacing the towball if needed.
