Q: How do I drain down and winterize the water system on my motorhome?
Open every tap in the vehicle and push the mixer lever handles up to the central position so both hot and cold sides can empty out. Take the shower head off by hand, give it a shake to clear any trapped water, and keep it somewhere dry. Then open the drain valve - on Advance/Alliance models this sits beside the on-board tank, on Autograph models it's next to the boiler - and switch the pump on to push the rest of the water out of the system.
For a proper full drain, it's worth doing the fresh and waste tanks manually too: there's an inspection cap on top of the tank giving access to a drain plug, and for the waste tank, move the vehicle over to a proper disposal point and open the drain tap behind the rear wheel to let it empty. Leaving any water in over a freezing night is enough to cause serious, permanent damage to the system, and frost damage isn't something your warranty will cover - so always finish with the manual draining step to be sure everything's properly empty, not just what the pump alone can get.
