No flame detected
Empty gas bottle or blockage in the gas line, or low temperatures affecting gas vaporization.
Confirm the gas bottle has gas in it and the gas line isn't blocked. Below 5°C, switch to propane rather than butane, then clear the lockout by cycling the DC power at the master switch (or pressing the Water Heater's red Reset Button if that doesn't clear it).
DIY Safe
2 bars
Overheat
Insufficient water in the appliance causing an overheat condition.
Make sure there's water in the appliance, then give the Water Heater at least 5-10 minutes to cool down before clearing the lockout.
DIY Safe
3 bars
Low/High Supply Voltage
Supply voltage outside the normal operating range (minimum operating voltage is 11.5V when high electric setting is used, maximum is 15V).
Measure the battery voltage - if it reads between 11.5V and 15V DC, check the wiring between the Water Heater and the battery, and check the alternator or any external charger. Then clear the lockout by cycling the DC power off and back on.
DIY Safe

Other / Internal Fault
Internal water heater malfunction or communication fault.
Try clearing the lockout by cycling the DC power off and back on. If that doesn't work, ring Whale's support line on +44 (0)345 9090 911.
