Whale I Van Intelligent Control Panel

Official technical documentation and troubleshooting for the Whale I Van Intelligent Control Panel, which controls Whale Water and Space Heaters fitted as standard across several UK touring caravan and motorhome ranges.

Note: Information taken from Bailey's 2015 handbook (Unicorn III / Pegasus GT65 / Pursuit I); the multiple-fault and air-pressure rows come from Elddis's 2026 handbook. Other handbooks give different voltage limits - Bailey 2013 says 10-15V at the heater, Elddis 2026 says 10.5-15.9V for the space heater.

Check gas supply
Space Heater fault screen: "Check gas supply"
No gas in the bottle, or a blockage in the gas line.
Check the bottle still has gas and nothing is blocking the gas pipe, and switch to Propane instead of Butane when it is colder than 5C. Then press "Retry". If you can't sort the gas out straight away, use one of the electric-only heating settings for now.
DIY Safe
Clear/open vents, retry after 10 minutes
Space Heater fault screen: "Clear / open vents, retry after 10 minutes"
The vents are shut or covered (a cushion or bag is a common culprit), so the heater has got too hot.
Clear whatever is covering the vents and open any that are shut. Give the heater 10 minutes to cool, then retry.
DIY Safe
Check voltage supply
Space Heater fault screen: "Check voltage supply"
Battery voltage outside the 12V-15V operating range.
The supply needs to be between 12V and 15V - recharge the battery if it has dropped too low.
DIY Safe
Check outside flues for blockages
Space Heater fault screen: "Check outside flues for blockages"
Airflow through the Space Heater's flues is restricted
Look at both ends of the flue and clear anything blocking them.
DIY Safe
Fault on space heater
Space Heater fault screen: "Fault on space heater"
An internal fault in the heater itself - one that the other fault-screen checks haven't cleared.
