Master Troubleshooting & Diagnostics Matrix

Error Code / IndicatorSymptom / MeaningPossible CauseStep-by-Step DIY FixSuggested Actions
Green control light does not light up when starting heater (winter and summer operation)
Missing supply voltage or blown fuse.
—
Check the 12V battery voltage, every electrical plug connection, and the heater's and vehicle's fuses.
DIY Safe
Green control light comes on after starting, but heating does not work
Set temperature on control panel is lower than room temperature, or the window above the chimney is open (window switch).
—
Turn the control panel setting to a higher temperature or close the window.
DIY Safe
Red control light flashes after starting the heater
The battery voltage has dropped below 10.5V.
—
Charge the battery.
DIY Safe
Red control light comes on continuously approx. 30 seconds after starting
Gas cylinder or quick-acting valve closed, or air supply interrupted.
—
Check gas supply, ensure chimney cap or cover is removed, and open deck chimney on boats.
DIY Safe
Heater switches to fault mode after prolonged operation
Blocked warm air outlets, frozen gas pressure regulator, or too high butane proportion in gas cylinder.
—
Check individual outlet openings individually, use ice ex-control system (EisEx), or use propane (butane is unsuitable below 10°C).
DIY Safe
Heater does not work on 230V electric mode; green light on panel comes on, but yellow energy selector light does not
Missing 230V supply voltage, blown heater fuse, or tripped overheating switch.
—
Check 230V supply voltage and fuses, check heater fuse, or reset the 230V overheating switch.
DIY Safe
Electric safety/drain valve opens after turning off the heater
Outdoor temperature is below 4°C, causing automatic frost protection drain.
—
Turn the heating on (the drain valve opens by itself once it's around 4°C or colder).
DIY Safe
Green control lamp does not light up upon switching on
No supply voltage or device/vehicle fuse is defective.
—
Check 12 V battery voltage, check all electrical plug connections, and check device and vehicle fuses.
DIY Safe
Red monitor lamp flashes or lights up steadily after switching on gas operation
Ignition failure, closed gas cylinder, interrupted air feed, or battery voltage too low (< 10.5 V).
—
Check gas feed and cylinder, ensure cowl is free of covers, check battery voltage and charge if necessary, unlock by switching off and on again.
DIY Safe
Electric operation (230 V) does not heat up / yellow indicator lamp on power selector does not illuminate
No 230 V supply voltage, defective device fuse, or overheating switch has triggered.
—
Check the 230 V supply and its fuses and the appliance's own fuse, or reset the mechanical 230 V overheat switch on the power electronics.
DIY Safe
Electrical safety/drain valve opens automatically or will not close
It's below about 4°C outside, so the water has drained automatically - or the drain valve isn't getting its 12 V supply.
—
Turn the heating on - without it, the drain valve can only be shut again once it's above 8°C - and check the 12 V supply.
DIY Safe
Water dripping from electrical safety/drain valve
Water pressure too high exceeding maximum limit.
—
Check the pump pressure (2.8 bar maximum), and fit a pressure reducer if you're connected to a mains town or country water supply.
DIY Safe

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can the heater run while the water tank is empty?

Yes, the heater can operate on all three heating modes (gas, electric, gas & electric) even when the water tank is empty.

Q: How do I empty the water boiler to prevent frost damage?

Switch off the water pump power supply, open all hot water taps in the kitchen and bathroom, and push the electric safety/drain valve switch down into position 'b'.

Q: What should I do if the 230V electric overheating switch trips?

Let the heater cool down completely, open the power electronics cover, and push the red button back in.

Q: Is simultaneous gas and electric operation possible for summer water heating?

No, gas and electric combined operation is not available exclusively for water heating. In summer mode, the heater automatically selects the chosen electric power setting (900W or 1800W) and gas does not turn on.
