Check there's gas in the bottle and the gas line isn't blocked, and use propane rather than butane below +5°C. Clear a lockout by switching the control panel's 'Fan Only' setting on, off, then on again, all within 2.5 seconds.

Overheat
—
Make sure the air ducts and vents aren't blocked or restricted. Give the heater 5-10 minutes to cool before clearing the lockout via the 'Fan Only' setting: on, off, then on again within 2.5 seconds.

Low/high supply voltage
—
The operating voltage at the heater should read between 10V and 15V. Check the battery voltage, and if it's within that range, check the connections between heater and battery plus the alternator or external charger. Clear the lockout via 'Fan Only': on, off, on again, within 2.5 seconds.

Other / internal fault
—
Try clearing the lockout via 'Fan Only' - on, off, on again within 2.5 seconds - and contact Propex if it doesn't clear.

General
Either two faults have happened simultaneously, or more than 5 lockout-clearing attempts have failed in a row.
Turn the heater off, check it over for faults, power it back up, then try clearing the lockout again via 'Fan Only': on, off, on again within 2.5 seconds.

No Flashing
PCB not powered up
—
Check the 12V supply to the heater: it needs between 10V and 15V measured at the heater, so check the battery voltage and the connections between the battery and the heater. If that doesn't sort it, contact Propex.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can the heater be mounted vertically?

The heater must not be mounted vertically on its nose or end or upside down but on one of its sides is not a problem. Remember when mounting the unit you should ensure you can still maintain access to the electronics cover and gas connections

Q: Where can the heater be fitted?

Most installations are mounted in a bedbox or locker. External installation is not recommended unless using the appropriate mounting box. However the HS2211 is designed to be fitted externally.

Q: How noisy is the heater?

There is very little burner noise from the heater itself. However, there will be some noise from the blown hot air similar to that of a small domestic fan heater.

Q: Can the heaters be used while vehicles are moving?

Yes, a vehicle in motion flue terminal is available and the heater should be installed and operated in compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements. Use of the the correct VIM bracket ensure compliance with the vehicle in motion test regime.

Q: What length of exhaust flue pipe can be fitted?

Total combined length must not exceed 4 meters and the inlet pipe should be slightly longer than the exhaust to balance the burner.

Q: How many outlets can you put on the Heatsource HS2000, HS2000E and HS2211?

The maximum recommended is 3, providing the total combined length of ducting is no longer than 5 metres and the maximum length to the first outlet should not exceed 1.5m.

Q: What is the electrical consumption?

1.6amps on 12v

Q: How much do they cost?

From as little as £496 for a Heatsource 2000 complete with a single outlet vehicle fitting kit and thermostat.
