Handset button layout, page 4 of the Powrtouch instructions (to issue 8). The letters match the buttons named in the fault-finding rows; the speed meter sits between J and K.
  1. A Direction button - the caravan moves the way the arrow printed on it points. Pressed together with I, it turns a single-axle caravan on the spot.
  2. B Direction button - the caravan moves the way the arrow printed on it points. Holding E and pressing B engages the rollers on units with the Powractuator option; the red LED above B flashes while they run.
  3. C Direction button - the caravan moves the way the arrow printed on it points. Pressed together with G, it turns a single-axle caravan on the spot.
  4. D Press D and F together briefly to switch the handset on. On its own, D (or F) is the emergency stop.
  5. E Function button - hold it, then press B to engage or H to retract the rollers (Powractuator option).
  6. F Press D and F together briefly to switch the handset on. On its own, F (or D) is the emergency stop.
  7. G Direction button - the caravan moves the way the arrow printed on it points. Pressed together with C, it turns a single-axle caravan on the spot.
  8. H Direction button - the caravan moves the way the arrow printed on it points. Holding E and pressing H retracts the rollers on units with the Powractuator option; the red LED below H flashes while they run.
  9. I Direction button - the caravan moves the way the arrow printed on it points. Pressed together with A, it turns a single-axle caravan on the spot.
  10. J Lowers the speed in 25% steps (only while the caravan is stationary). The speed meter between J and K shows the setting.
  11. K Raises the speed in 25% steps, back up to maximum.

Only if your leisure battery needs replacing - check the size, type and terminal layout of the one fitted now, and that your charger supports it, before ordering:

Leisure batteries vary by vehicle (size, capacity and type - lead-acid, AGM, EFB or lithium). This is a widely used 100Ah EFB battery, not a documented exact match for your vehicle.

Confirm the handset battery reads the correct 9.5V. If, on switching the handset on, all 6 red LEDs give two flashes, that's also a sign the handset battery is low - you can also check this using the emergency umbilical cable.

Caravan battery low
Check the caravan battery's voltage with nothing switched on, at least 4 hours after it was last charged: about 12.7V or more is fully charged, 12.4V is roughly half, and 12.0V or less is flat. Charge or replace the battery as needed.

Caravan battery low
Engage the rollers, move the caravan, and check how far the caravan's battery meter drops - if it drops below 12V, have an accredited supplier test the battery, then charge or replace it as needed.

On electrically-actuated units (Powractuation fitted), the roller won't disengage
—
Put the handbrake on. Holding button E down, press the H direction-arrow button, then release both at once. The handset's LED speed meter counts down from four to one, then the actuators run and the red LED under button H flashes; check the rollers are clear of the tyres before towing. (Pressing D or F stops the actuators immediately if they were started by mistake.) If a motor or system fault stops the rollers retracting, they can be wound off by hand, depending on the motor fitted. Motor System 1: on the back of the small Powractuator motor, remove the rubber top-hat cover, then wind the 9mm nut beneath it anti-clockwise - because of the reduction gearbox this takes a lot of turns, so a cordless drill or screwdriver helps. Motor System 2: push the 'tool for hand removal' supplied with the Powrtouch into the hole on the back of the motor, which gives you a 10mm nut to turn in the same way. If in doubt, ask a qualified Powrtouch engineer.

Disengage the rollers and check the gap to the tyres - 15mm on large-roller versions, 20mm on small-roller versions - and check the tyres aren't badly worn or incorrectly pressured.

Check the roller-to-tyre distance - 15mm for large-roller versions, 20mm for small-roller versions - and confirm tyre pressures are correct and the tyres aren't badly worn.

—
Check the handset's battery voltage is correct - a slow-flashing green light on the handset is one sign it isn't. You can also check this with the emergency cable, but always take the handset battery out first when using it.
