Handset button layout, page 7 of the Powrtouch Evolution Twin Axle / AWD (Auto) instructions. The letters match the buttons named in the fault-finding rows; the setting indicator window sits between J and K.
  1. A Direction button - the caravan moves the way the arrow printed on it points. On AWD units, pressing it together with I gives a quick turn by stopping the wheels on the inside of the turn.
  2. B Direction button - the caravan moves the way the arrow printed on it points. While B is held, A or C steer the caravan without stopping.
  3. C Direction button - the caravan moves the way the arrow printed on it points. On AWD units, pressing it together with G gives a quick turn by stopping the wheels on the inside of the turn.
  4. D 'On' button - press D and F together to switch the handset on. On its own, D (or F) is the emergency stop.
  5. E 'Function' button - hold it, then press K to engage or J to disengage the rollers.
  6. F 'On' button - press D and F together to switch the handset on. On its own, F (or D) is the emergency stop.
  7. G Direction button - the caravan moves the way the arrow printed on it points. On AWD units, pressing it together with C gives a quick turn by stopping the wheels on the inside of the turn.
  8. H Direction button - the caravan moves the way the arrow printed on it points. While H is held, G or I steer the caravan without stopping.
  9. I Direction button - the caravan moves the way the arrow printed on it points. On AWD units, pressing it together with A gives a quick turn by stopping the wheels on the inside of the turn.
  10. J 'Speed Decrease' - lowers the speed in 25% steps while the caravan is stationary. With E held, it is 'Roller Disengagement'.
  11. K 'Speed Increase' - raises the speed in 25% steps. With E held, it is 'Roller Engagement'.

Master Troubleshooting & Diagnostics Matrix

Error Code / IndicatorSymptom / MeaningPossible CauseStep-by-Step DIY FixSuggested Actions
Red Light Flashing on ECB
The unit won't operate at all - completely dead - with the ECB's red light flashing
Over heating
Take out the isolation key and wait 20 minutes to give the thermal fuse a chance to reset - the red light should stop flashing and the ECB shouldn't feel warm to the touch.
DIY Safe
Green light flashing on ECB
The unit won't operate, or only moves on and off, with the ECB's green light flashing
Caravan battery low
Check the caravan battery's voltage with nothing switched on, at least 4 hours after it was last charged: about 12.7V or more is fully charged, 12.4V is roughly half, and 12.0V or less is flat. Charge or replace the battery as needed.

Unit fails to operate
—
Reset the ECB: switch off the isolation switch, pull the key out for at least 20 seconds, then switch back on. The ECB's green light should then be lit.
DIY Safe
N/A
The unit's completely dead and won't operate at all
—
Confirm the green light is lit on the electronics. If it isn't, check the in-line fuse hasn't blown and that 12V DC is actually reaching the ECB.
DIY Safe
N/A
The unit won't operate, or operates on and off
—
Confirm the handset battery is reading the correct 9.5V - if both rows of red LEDs flash, the handset battery is getting low.
DIY Safe
N/A
In auto mode, one side doesn't engage
—
Before turning the mover off, check both sides are completely disengaged. Using the T-bar supplied, wind it clockwise two turns, and the mover should then auto-engage again next time you use the remote control.
DIY Safe
N/A
The unit won't operate properly, or moves in a stop-start way
The battery terminals are poorly connected or corroded
Make sure the battery terminals are clean and properly connected.
DIY Safe
N/A
The caravan won't move, or only moves on and off
Caravan battery low
Engage the rollers, move the caravan, and watch how far the caravan's battery meter drops. If it falls below 12V, have an accredited supplier test the battery, then charge or replace it as needed.
DIY Check / Tech Fallback
N/A
The roller won't disengage from auto operation
—
Put the caravan's handbrake on and switch on the handset and the Powrtouch isolation switch. Then, keeping the 'Function' button (E) held down, give the 'Roller Disengagement' button (J) a press, letting go of both immediately. The lights in the handset's indicator window scroll to the left, and all the green LEDs flash while the mover finishes disengaging. Before towing, check both rollers are clear of the tyres using the yellow roller position indicator, and leave the red isolator key switched on until none of the 4 green lights is flashing any more. (Either 'On/Emergency Stop' button, D or F, stops the actuators straight away if they were started by mistake.) If the rollers won't retract electrically - with a flat battery, for example - wind them off by hand: turn the isolator key anti-clockwise and take it out, remove the end bung, then insert the T-bar removal tool and give it 30 anti-clockwise turns. If in doubt, ask a qualified Powrtouch engineer.
DIY Check / Tech Fallback

Rollers slip on wheels
—
Disengage the rollers from the tyres - the gap should be roughly 19mm. Also check the tyre treads aren't badly worn and that tyre pressures are correct.
DIY Safe
FLASH (Red)
PCB Over Heat
—
Take the isolation key out and wait 20 minutes to let the thermal fuse reset and the ECB cool down.
DIY Safe
FLASH (Green)
Low Caravan Battery Voltage
—
Check voltage of battery, charge or renew caravan battery.
