Block battery needs changing
Carefully twist the smoke detector's cover anti-clockwise until it comes free of its mount. Remove the old block battery and unclip it from the pins. Clip on a new 9V (type 6F22) block battery, making sure the pins click properly onto the poles, then fit the battery into its container. Line the cover's lock holes up with the locking pegs and turn it clockwise until it locks back into the mount.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I test the smoke detector after changing the battery?

Hold the test button down for at least 4 seconds - the alarm sounding confirms the electronics are working, and it cuts out the moment you release the button.
