N/A | Pump will not run | — | Make sure at least one tap is turned on, then cycle the pump isolator switch off and back on. Confirm the battery has a full charge, and that both the pump isolator and master switch are on. Clean the contact strips either side of the plug so they're making a good connection with the socket, check the wiring connections, and check the fuse in the fuse box. | DIY Safe |
N/A | The pump keeps switching on and off even though every tap and shower is shut | — | Look for air or water escaping anywhere around the taps and pipework, and check the non-return valve in the socket hasn't picked up any grit or debris - a ballpoint pen works well for clearing it out if it has. Once that's done, run through the system's own recalibration steps. | DIY Safe |
N/A | Pump carries on running for 30 seconds or longer even though every tap and shower is off | — | Make sure every pipework connection is secure, then recalibrate the system following the calibration instructions. | DIY Safe |
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I prime the water pump on the Whale High Flow system with Intelligent Control?
Sit the pump fully in a container full of water, then open the socket lid using its side grips and push the plug in, securing it by closing the lid over it to lock it in place. Rest the dust cover over the container opening without fastening it down, then switch the Master Switch on. Open a cold tap first, then run every tap through cold and hot to clear the air out of the system.
Once the water's flowing evenly, turn the tap off - the pump should stop on its own after about 10 seconds.
Q: How do I calibrate the Watermaster IC Pump Controller?
Keep the calibration button pressed in until you see the green LED start to flash (allow 1-3 seconds). Next, turn on the cold shower - the pump should kick in - and let it run for roughly half a minute before switching the shower off. Wait about 10 seconds with the pump still running, then hold that same button down again until its light shows solid green; the pump will stop roughly 10 seconds after that.
Once calibration's complete, the green LED switches off and gives a brief blink every 5 seconds.
