Q: How do I fault-find the TV aerial system?
A handful of checks generally clear up most reception problems with the Status antenna system. Start with the coaxial connections - every connector in the system needs to be wired correctly, and it's worth making sure only decent-quality plugs have been used throughout. Next, check the coaxial cable itself for sharp bends, kinks, or contact with anything hot, all of which can damage it - and keep it away from electrical cables, transformers, or other equipment that could induce interference, especially in areas where reception is already weak.
Don't leave any slack cable coiled up either, as that can distort the picture on its own. The gain control switch matters too: it should normally sit in its standard position, only switching to a lower setting when you're close to a transmitter and the signal's too strong. If the LED on the power pack won't light at all, unplug the lead running to the antenna dome first - if the LED then comes on, the fault is in that cable or its plug rather than the power pack itself; if it still won't light, get in touch with your dealer.
Finally, a short hook-up test can isolate the problem further: connect your TV directly to the power pack (bypassing the rest of the wiring) and see if picture quality improves - if it does, the wiring between the power pack and TV outlet socket is where the fault lies.
