The water pump motor keeps running continuously and won't stop (Water system)
The container's run dry, the battery voltage may have dropped too low (10.5V or below), or a pipework connection has come loose.
Confirm there's water in the container, adjust the pressure switch and/or recharge the battery, and check every pipework connection.

Auto-Sleepers fits a Whale submersible pump in this water system but doesn't name the exact model, so this is the standard current Whale replacement rather than a documented exact match - check the pump fitted in your tank before ordering.

The water pump cycles on and off repeatedly - a pulsing flow at the tap, or the water temperature won't hold steady (Water system)
The current voltage has risen well above what it was when the switch was last set.
Readjust the pressure switch, and if that doesn't clear it, fit a Whale Surge Damper.
DIY Safe
N/A
The water pump is very noisy but isn't actually pumping any water (Water system)
Air's trapped in the pump, fighting to escape as water tries to get in - this typically happens just after the water container's been refilled.
Unplug it from the socket so the pump floods, then reconnect by plugging it back in. When refilling the container, always unplug first, place the pump in, then reconnect - in that order.

Check whether the blown fuse is a standard or a mini blade fuse (mini ones are roughly half the size), then choose the matching kit:

This fault doesn't say which fuse rating has blown, only to replace it like-for-like. Both kits cover the common ratings (5A-30A) - match the rating printed on the blown fuse.

Continuous running of water pump
Pressure not set correctly
The pump's pressure switch needs resetting - do it with the battery at its low end. With the whole system (water heater included) full and every tap shut, loosen the switch's locknut if it has one, then wind its adjuster screw in (clockwise) until the pump kicks in. Run a tap until the water flows smoothly, then shut it - the pump keeps running. Now back the screw out slowly (anti-clockwise) until the pump cuts out, then give it a further half turn the same way. Check each tap in turn: the pump should start when the cold tap opens and stop as soon as it closes (the hot side can lag a little). Finally re-tighten the locknut without moving the screw.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I prime the Whale Watermaster water supply system?

1. Open a cold tap somewhere in the vehicle - the kitchen sink is fine.

2. Drop the pump into the water container.

3. Plug it into the wall socket, sliding the cover down to lock it into the Whale socket.

4. Fit the dust cover over the container opening.

5. Switch on the 12V supply at the main panel's isolator switch.

6. Water should reach the open tap within a few seconds, clearing any trapped air.

7. Turn the tap off - the system's ready to use.

Q: How do I winterise the water system before storing the vehicle for winter?

Open the drain valve next to the water heater, and leave the fresh and waste water tank drain taps open too. Open every internal tap, then run the pump until it stops delivering anything. Go for a short spin with those drain taps still open - it helps shift the last of the water out of the tanks and pipework. Pull the sink plugs so the system can breathe, give the waste tank a thorough flush to shift any debris, finish with a flush of mild disinfectant, and leave the drain tap open.
